Nominate an Inspirational Teacher – There’s still Time!

More than two thousand teachers from all over the country have been nominated in a nationwide search for New Zealand’s most inspiring teachers – but it’s not too late to nominate your inspirational teacher.

Students, parents and teachers have until the 23rd of September to nominate deserving early childhood, primary or secondary school teachers, who go above and beyond to make learning time more enjoyable and valuable.

Thirty nominated teachers will share in $30,000 worth of classroom stationery and technology from Warehouse Stationery, with one of the 30 winning a grand prize including a $5,000 holiday and the title of New Zealand’s Most Inspiring Teacher 2012.

“In the first three weeks of our search we’ve had a phenomenal 5,700 entries. That’s already five times as many nominations as we received last year, so it’s clear that this search has struck a chord with Kiwis,” says Cathy Atkins, Warehouse Stationery Head of Marketing.

Nominations have come through for teachers across almost 1,400 different Primary and Secondary schools, as well as 54 Early Childhood Centres.

“It’s so encouraging to see the very high standard of teachers we have in New Zealand and what’s been heartening is that 70 per cent of nominations have come from students. We really love that this search has given kids a way to thank their teachers,” Cathy adds.

A short list of entries will be judged by Sido Kitchin, editor of Woman’s Day, Mary Lambie, media personality and mother of three, and Anna Campbell, Head of People Support for Warehouse Stationery.

Judges will be looking for teachers who have a passion for the profession and their pupils – the ones who are committed to the learning process and go beyond the call of duty in terms of time and resources.

As a way to thank the nominators, Warehouse Stationery is also offering a prize of a Samsung Galaxy 2 Tablet to the person who nominates New Zealand’s Most Inspiring Teacher for 2012.
