Fullpower into Adult Learners’ Week/He Tangata Mātauranga
September 3 marks the start of Adult Learners’ Week/He Tangata Mātauranga, For many of us this is a time of opportunity and the start of achieving new goals but for some it is a reminder of the way things could be if only life was a little different – and for all those people there is Fullpower! Fullpower “can really change how we stand in the world” according to one past participant.
A World Health Organisation briefing report on violence prevention showed how cycles of poverty and violence are maintained due to poor social skills, low academic achievement and poverty. They successfully showed the link between life skills and positive behaviour that enabled individuals to deal with demands of every day life.
As part of Adult Learners’ Week/He Tangata Mātauranga Fullpower is offering workshops for adults to give them personal, social and interpersonal skills to foster self management, social awareness, positive relationships and responsible decision making. And possibly this will mark the first step of some adult’s learning journey which they dreamed of but never had the confidence or skills to make it reality.
“This programme has not only made me feel safer but it has also given me much more confidence in my abilities to tackle difficult challenges” said another participant – take the step to a new future and take part in Learners’ Week/He Tangata Mātauranga.

Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower Trust is a charitable trust with offices in Nelson and Auckland. We work nationwide from these bases delivering programmes that teach skills to keep people safe with people they know and people they don’t know. We have programmes for those aged 4-7, 8-12, teens and adults. We also have a programme called Healthy Relationships to help those with cognitive disabilities – a group highly over represented in abuse statistics.
We are funded through the generosity of several grant making trusts and sponsors. We also charge a small fee where appropriate for our services.
