New Era in Retailer Education
Wellingtonians are soon to have the opportunity to undertake New Zealand’s most comprehensive Applied Retail Management qualification. The advanced level 7 qualification was developed by the New Zealand Curriculum Design Institute (www.houseofmontrose.co.nz) in response to approaches by New Zealand retailers.
The retailers approaching the Institute were keen to have a course designed that would educate senior ‘thinking’ managers for their growing retail and service sector businesses. Now, the New Zealand Curriculum Design Institute in partnership with the innovative ‘Making Futures Happen’ International Institute (www.MFH.ac.nz) are bringing to the capital city a unique opportunity for local and International students to experience this applied course.
Individuals with past business or retail experience will be able to experience the unique qualification at MFH in Wellington. MFH is inviting interested retailers and prospective students to an information night on the 29th August to hear more about the course and what it offers. The advanced course aims to build the capabilities of those who want to move into senior management roles and make their careers in the retail sector. The course will prepare students for the real world challenges senior retail sector managers face today.
Creative and innovative approaches will be encouraged as students spend a quarter of their study time in retail businesses gaining experience under experienced retail business managers. The course includes advanced study of the retail environment, communication, customer service strategies, financial planning, information systems, strategic management, sustainable work practices, logistics, retail marketing and retail business law in New Zealand.
Core goals of the qualification are to professionalise the sector, increase productivity, grow the retail sector and build a ‘thinking’ senior retail management capability. Given the retail and service sector in New Zealand represents one of the biggest potential growth areas and drivers of the New Zealand economy the new qualification is viewed as supportive of higher productivity and customer service levels in the retail sector in New Zealand.
The information seminar will be available at 6pm Wednesday 29th August 2012.
