Kaumātua blessing for luxury classrooms and Stage 2 of their Gymnasium after a toasty night's sleep at school
Henderson Intermediate School provides a wide range of curriculum experiences to prepare students for secondary school and it is the latest West Auckland School to receive an upgraded infrastructure. The children are moving into brand new classrooms with ultra fast broadband and air conditioning on August 21st. This means our classrooms are exemplary modern learning environments that can accommodate all our latest learning tools which include smartboards, ipads, tablets, laptops and computers. Students are also encouraged to bring their own laptops to school which we have found encourages universal learning.
In and Out of Zone students are welcome to have individual tours of the school while the place is 'at work'. “Indications are that the school will be completely full so early enrolments are advised” said Bruce Dale, the Principal. He added, “Our school is a delightful, happy and purposeful place to be. Our students are respectful and engaged in their learning and are so excited about their new classrooms.”
Celebrating their 50th Jubilee in 2014 and with an ever increasing roll of 560 their student population is ethnically diverse, reflecting the ever changing face of Auckland in the 21st century. Located at 70 Lincoln Road in the heart of Henderson, Henderson Intermediate is fortunate to boast very large, level playing fields and well established trees. The area was previously vineyards and apple orchards, some of which still run as viable businesses today.
On Tuesday 21st August at 6am the Kaumātua (Maori elders of the school) will be blessing the new classroom buildings and also Stage 2 of the Gymnasium which includes an office, Super-loo, and changing rooms. The community, parents and students are all welcome but would need to RSVP the school so numbers are catered for. If you would like to attend e-mail admin@hendersonint.school.nz.
Look forward to seeing you there with cameras.
