CPIT student impresses on Tandem Studios internship
Christchurch-based Tandem Studios is providing a six-month internship to CPIT New Zealand Broadcasting School student Nick Jackson.
Nick is now three weeks into his internship, the last stage of fully qualifying for his Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications from CPIT.
“I’ve been doing a wide variety of jobs since I started including camera work and editing,” said Nick. “One of the things I’ve really enjoyed has been working directly with clients. It’s great to be able to develop those skills and gaining direct experience of being personable and meeting clients’ requirements.”
Camera work is Nick’s passion and he hopes to apply his professional skills to film-making projects of his own in the future. “It’s a huge advantage to have an degree from the New Zealand Broadcasting School under your belt. It was a great experience studying there and I learnt a huge amount.
“My internship at Tandem Studios will really gear me up for video production, editing and camera work. I can’t think of anything better at this stage in my professional career.”
Tandem Studios’ Managing Director, Dave Dunlay, said that encouraging and developing talented and enthusiastic younger people is a great way to ensure that the media sector continues to grow and develop. Internships are one way that the company contributes to this goal.
“I’ve been impressed by the way that Nick has worked with our team and our clients so far,” said Dave. “Everyone needs an opportunity to get a start in their career and we’re happy to provide Nick with the internship opportunity he needs to complete his degree programme at CPIT.”
