Whitireia and ETITO to Provide Career Pathways for Learners Already in Employment

Whitireia New Zealand and ETITO are joining forces to better respond to the educational needs of learners who are already in employment. The new partnership will provide a seamless pathway for those who wish to broaden their career options by obtaining a business diploma or degree while working.

The decision to enter an agreement with Whitireia New Zealand was a logical one said Garry Fissenden, Chief Executive, ETITO. “Based on our experience with trainees and industry, people starting out in study become really enthusiastic about it and want to know what they can take on next. We’ve just made it easier for them to see where their current qualification can lead them.”

This collaboration will not only improve career pathways but also help the economy and productivity said Don Campbell, Chief Executive, Whitireia New Zealand. “It allows us to support those learners who want to gain a qualification while working. It will also help them improve work practices and is a really good example of collaboration with industry, ITO and polytechnic.”

Representatives from both organisations will be visiting ETITO client companies to explore what skill development is needed. A pilot programme based on business qualifications will then be developed by the two organisations to be officially launched in 2013.
