New Deputy Chief Executive Named At Whitireia

For immediate release

New Deputy Chief Executive (Operational) Named

Whitireia has announced the appointment of its new Deputy Chief Executive (Operational), Mr Chris Gosling.

Chris was officially welcomed to Whitireia on Monday at a pōwhiri held at Te Manawa, Whitireia Campus, Porirua, attended by Ngāti Toa and staff. He started in the role on Monday as well, and is located at the main Whitireia Campus in Porirua alongside the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive (Educational) and other senior management personnel.

We are delighted with Chris’ appointment to this role said Whitireia Chief Executive Don Campbell. “The experience and expertise that Chris will bring to Whitireia, particularly in the area of finance and capital assets will be a huge benefit given our current fiscal environment and the campus redevelopment plans that we currently have in place”.

Chris has recently returned from Bahrain where he was Chief Operating Officer in the establishment of a new New Zealand style Polytechnic. Here he was responsible for finance and administration, ICT Services, Facilities, Student Services (including Library Learning Centre and Career Centre) and Registry. Chris was involved in the development of the Bahrain Polytechnic from the ground up. He was part of the decision making and policy development on every aspect and has sound educational as well as corporate knowledge. A Chartered Accountant, Chris brings strong finance and accounting skills to Whitireia.

Prior to this time in Bahrain, Chris was in charge of Corporate Services at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, a role he held for eight years.

I am very pleased to be at Whitireia said Chris. “I look forward to working with staff and the Porirua community. I am pleased to be back in New Zealand where my family and I can once again enjoy the unique and special aspects of Aotearoa. The pōwhiri I experienced earlier this week endorses this he said”.

This appointment comes after a similar role, previously held by Arthur Graves, became vacant with his resignation and move to the Ministry of Education late last year.
