Rural Women New Zealand challenges the Government to follow through on their promise

The announcement by Telecommunications Minister Amy Adams that further Remote and provincial schools are to get faster broadband is welcomed by Rural Women New Zealand members around the country

“More access to internet connections for isolated rural schools will be a quantum leap into the digital age,” Rural Women New Zealand National President, Liz Evans, said.

“Students and their teachers will be relieved to have the same opportunities to participate in and explore the wider educational spectrum broadband brings.”

But, this still leaves some rural schools reliant on satellite broadband with high costs, low data caps and reduced speeds.

“RWNZ challenges the Government to follow through with their promise that no school will miss out on affordable fast broadband. Schools left to fend for themselves with an expensive satellite service should receive additional funding support from the Government,” Liz Evans said.
