‘3 Schools in 1 College’ Open Day at the newly-restructured Scots College
This Sunday 25 March, Scots College invites prospective students and their families, old boys, and members of the public
to come and have a good look around the recently restructured College and it’s stunning new sports and creative
facilities.
“This is our first year under the new three school structure which has been implemented to prepare Scots for the future,
as the roll steadily continues to grow,” said Headmaster Graeme Yule “It’s certainly an exciting period of change, and a
milestone in the life of the College which is nearing its centenary in 2016,” he said. “It will allow us to grow while
maintaining our small class sizes and personalized approach.”
“The College is now comprised of the Prep School (Years 1-6), Middle School (Years 7-10) and the Senior School (Years
11-13). This is an internationally-recognised education system, and ensures we are now fully-aligned with our peers
world-wide as an accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World School*,” he said. “Each School also has a focus on
age and stage appropriate programs for the development of its students.”
“As Headmaster I oversee the running of the College as a whole, and also the Senior School, while the Middle School and
Prep School have their own Principals, Mr Peter Cassie (Middle), and Mr John Western (Prep),” he said.
“This new structure ensures that at each stage of a student’s school life we can tailor their academic, sporting,
cultural, service and leadership opportunities to meet their developmental needs. It also means we can maintain the
one-on-one knowledge and support for each and every student, for which we are renowned. Our College’s manifesto has
always been, and continues to this day, to be a school where ‘every boy is known’, reflected Yule.
“Open Days are a great opportunity to explore the school – to wander around our classrooms, meet some of the teachers,
check out the sports and cultural facilities and just get a general feel for the school. The tours are student-led and
give people the opportunity to not only meet our young men, but also to get a student perspective on College life,” he
said.
”2011 was a big year for campus development at Scots. We now have two world-class facilities, the Hodge Sports Centre
and the newly-opened Creative and Performing Arts Centre,” he said. “These buildings are a huge asset to the College and
we’re looking forward to showing our visitors around on Sunday,” said Yule.
”Our intention is that these facilities are an asset both for the school, and also the wider community, and I invite
anyone who is interested to come along to the Open Day and hear more about the exciting opportunities these facilities
present,” he said.
The Open Day will run from 2.00pm – 4.00pm on Sunday 25 March. In addition an Information Evening will run on Wed 21 March (7.00pm -9.00pm) for those unable to attend on Sunday.
