Education New Zealand Welcomes Immigration's 2015 Vision
9 March 2012
Education New Zealand welcomes the release of Immigration New Zealand's 'Vision for 2015'.
“The Government aims to double the economic value of international education to $5.5 billion over the next 15 years, so this connection of strategies between government agencies is paramount to success,” says Charles Finny, Chair of Education New Zealand.
“The alignment that Immigration's vision has with our international education goals is clear and Education New Zealand is already working closely with immigration and other agencies on a number of shared initiatives.”
International education is a key pillar in strengthening New Zealands economic, cultural and social links with the world.
The current economic value to New Zealand from international education is around $2.5 billion each year. Guided by the goals set out in the Governments Leadership Statement for International Education, Education New Zealand will support the international education sector to double that contribution over the next 15 years.
About Education New Zealand
Education New Zealand is the recently
established Government agency responsible for New Zealand's
international education promotion and representation
worldwide.
Our aim is to help the international education sector meet the goals set out by the Government – to double the economic and social contribution of international education to New Zealand to $5 billion by 2025.
We create strategies and programmes alongside New Zealand's international education sector, government agencies, and governments overseas that increase and broaden our international education activities – from onshore and offshore delivery of education programmes to the sale of our education knowledge, products and consultancy skills.
