CPIT Lights The FUSE For O-Week
20 February 2012
Dub band Knights of the Dub Table and comedian Steve Wrigley from TV3’s Seven Days are heading to CPIT to welcome students to the institute’s biggest orientation yet.
The programme for the week-long event, titled FUSE, kicks off on 24 February and brings some major New Zealand acts to CPIT’s Madras Street campus.
New students were looking forward to extending their social networks at orientation. “It will be a good chance to meet new people,” Margot Fuller, a first year nursing student from Christchurch, said. “Especially in a music concert environment where it is easy to socialise with people,” she said.
The six evening gigs in the CPSA building kicks off with Indie Opening featuring T54, Ghostwave (from Auckland) and The Transistors on 24 February and concludes with The Guest, Von Voin Strum and The Popstrangers at the Rock-Wrap on 2 March. Tickets for evening gigs are $10 for students ($25 for the public) and the first fifty people through the door receive a complimentary drink.
Sumo wrestling and a tug of war are two of many lunchtime activities running throughout the week, along with free BBQs and concerts.
CPIT’s Sullivan Avenue campus trades students had a great time celebrating orientation earlier this month.
