Celebrating the end of Nursing State Finals
UCOL Wairarapa Nursing students are celebrating the end of their Nursing State Finals, after completing the three year
Bachelor of Nursing degree.
Twenty seven students sat this year’s New Zealand Nursing Council state final examinations, which allow graduates with a
degree to become registered nurses and enter the workforce.
Student Support Team Leader Sharon Joliffe says they are set to make a contribution in the health sector, in the
Wairarapa region and wider afield.
“Some already have firm plans for the future. For example, of our youngest students, Jordan McGregor is going to work at
Christchurch Hospital, Sarah Hurley will be in the Theatre at Wairarapa Hospital, Megan Flowerday is going into
Paediatric nursing at Wellington Hospital, Megan Wickens is off to Alice Springs Hospital and Christie Higginson will be
in the Mental Health Unit at Christchurch Hospital.
“Some are taking a well-earned break first, like Aleksei Ganotan who is travelling overseas for the summer.
“We are proud of all of our graduates and wish them all well in their new careers.”
UCOL Wairarapa started the Bachelor of Nursing programme in 2004. Since then students have had a 100 per cent pass rate
in the Nursing Council state finals.
