Kawerau Intermediate Closure
The Board of Trustees of Kawerau Intermediate and Kawerau College received on Friday 11 November a letter from the Minister of Education notifying them that she intends to proceed with the closure of Kawerau Intermediate and Kawerau College at the end of 2012 and create a new Year 7-13 school on the site of Kawerau College.
The Board of Trustees and the wider Intermediate school community is hugely disappointed at this decision that goes against what the community wanted. It is not good enough.
The Board of Trustees is holding a public meeting this coming Tuesday 15th November in the intermediate hall to discuss this decision (beginning at 7:00pm). The meeting will be a chance for the community to express its views and plan future action.
For the past 12 months the collective voice of the Kawerau Community has been ignored and it is time to express its views about a Minister who believes she knows what is best for 'their' tamariki.
We extend an invitation for you to attend this event.
Kind regards
Daryl Aim
