Aoraki students showcase their creative talents
Aoraki Polytechnic Art and Design and Digital Photography students are giving the public the opportunity to view and purchase their work.
Every year Aoraki Polytechnic gives its students the opportunity to showcase their creative talents and thinking to the public and prospective employers. Students from different campuses organise a variety of events including a fashion show and exhibitions.
Digital Photography exhibition: Diploma in Digital Photography students from Aoraki's Dunedin Campus are holding a Digital Photography Exhibition on November 1-5 from 9am to 5pm at the Community Art Gallery, 20 Princes Street, Dunedin.
Polychrome: is an annual event running from November 10 to 28 giving students the opportunity to showcase and sell their works at Timaru's Aigantighe Art Gallery. "A high level of professionalism is required to exhibit at Aigantighe, the students put forward their work along with a proposal of how they want it presented," says Art tutor Mike Armstrong. Over 25 Diploma in Painting and Diploma in Arts and Media students are involved in the exhibition which has been running annually for over 15 years.
Kaleidoscope: Ashburton campus' Painting, Arts and Media and Introductory Art Studies students are holding 'Kaleidoscope' at Ashburton's Art Gallery. The exhibition is a 'visual discovery' showcasing work by the students. Works range from traditional drawing, painting and printmaking to contemporary illustration and mixed media. The exhibition presents a kaleidoscopic mix of materials, techniques and concepts. The exhibition opens from 1.30pm on November 12 and is open daily until November 26 from 10am to 4pm with a late night on Wednesday until 7pm.
Pose: Aoraki polytechnic's fashion design students are holding their annual show 'Pose' on 17 November. The show begins at 6pm in the Aoraki Polytechnic Gym, Timaru. A gold coin entry fee is required with limited seating available! Fashion tutor Janice Friend said the students organise and coordinate the show themselves, including liaising with other Polytechnic departments such as hair, beauty, property services and catering.
