Kick drink driving to touch this weekend
Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD) is encouraging everyone to have a game-plan in place before heading out to enjoy
the rugby revelry this weekend.
With the All Blacks one-win away from World Cup glory, there will be a huge amount of partying going on around the
country and SADD wants everyone to have a great time and not risk spoiling the moment by driving drunk.
"Before you go out, make sure you've got a plan for fulltime at the end of the night," says SADD Chief Executive Anna
Reid.
"Once you've had a few drinks, your judgement can be affected, so play it smart and make sure you've got no chance of
getting behind the wheel when you shouldn't.
"Either arrange to have a sober driver, use taxis and public transport or organise to stay where you are overnight."
Drivers under 20 also need to remember that they now have a zero-alcohol limit and cannot drink at all before getting
behind the wheel.
And hosts have responsibilities in this area too. If you are having people around to your place for a rugby party, check
that your guests have a way of getting home safely and always serve food alongside alcohol.
"If you see someone who isn't in a fit state to drive, see if they can stay where they are or arrange some other way to
get them home," says Miss Reid.
"If a player makes a bad choice on the field, they might cost their team victory. If we make a bad choice drink driving,
we might cost ourselves or someone else their life. It's just not worth the risk."
SADD's tips if you are going to be drinking this weekend:

* Use taxis and public transport
* Or stay where you are overnight if possible
