Secretary welcomes settlement

Secretary for Education Karen Sewell has welcomed settlement of the Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement (ASTCA).

“I’m very pleased that the Ministry of Education, New Zealand Educational Institute (NZEI) and Post Primary Teachers’ Association (PPTA) have reached settlement”, Karen Sewell said.

“This was a constructive bargaining round that has resulted in a very good settlement for Area Teachers and their employers, Boards of Trustees.”

Karen Sewell said she hoped Area School Teachers would ratify the settlement shortly.

Features of settlement

22-month term, expiring on 29 March 2013
$300 one-off lump sum payment
Average 2.77% base salary increase, annualised at 1.61% over the term
Increases to the value of some allowances
