Youth Vision 2050 buzzing at University of Canterbury
There was a real buzz in the University of Canterbury’s Jack Mann Auditorium at the College of Education today as more than 60 students aged 13yrs-25yrs took part in Youth Vision 2050. The University of Canterbury is a premier partner in the event which brings together young people from around the city to share ideas for the rebuilding of Christchurch.
“The guest speakers are great and I’m really enjoying it!” said CPIT Social Work student Dave Smart. After completing a certificate in University Preparation at UC Mr Smart went on to enrol on a degree programme at CPIT and hopes to work in community development once he has completed his qualification. CPIT are a gold partner in Youth Vision 2050.
Sam Johnson of the Student Volunteer Army, who are also gold partners of Youth Vision 2050, said that the event had a great atmosphere and he looked forward to the rest of the programme.
Youth Vision 2050 participants with be attending TEDxEQCHCH tomorrow – an internationally renowned and sold out one-day public event being held at the Aurora Centre for the Performing Arts on 21 May to re-imagine Christchurch as a world-leading city – and will be back at the Jack Mann Auditorium at UC on Sunday for another day of workshops and guest speakers.
