Whitireia NZ hosts the Director of Tongan Tertiary Institute and the Wesleyan President of Education
Whitireia New Zealand senior staff welcomed distinguished Tongan guests Dr Mele'ana Puloka, newly appointed Director, Tupou Tertiary Institute and Reverend ‘Alifeleti ‘Atiola, President of Education for the Wesleyan Church in Tonga today (Wednesday 6 April).
Dr Mele'ana Puloka has until recently been working at Oxford University and specialises in curriculum development. The purpose of the visit is to introduce Dr Puloka to tertiary partners in New Zealand. This Wesleyan Church has been providing tertiary qualifications to Tongan students in partnership with Whitireia for over 10 years.
After a welcome led by Ngati Toa kaumatua Taku Parai, the distinguished party met with Chief Executive Don Campbell and the Deans of the Faculties of Trades, Health, Service Industries and Business.
“We have a large Pacific student body and a commitment to Tongan and Pacific student success,” says Don Campbell. “This partnership provides skills that support economic development. It is a pleasure to welcome and meet with Dr Mele'ana Puloka and Reverend ‘Alifeleti ‘Atiola today.”
