Big win for our country’s marketers
The Marketing Association and The University of Auckland Business School announce an exclusive partnership to take the professional development of New Zealand’s marketers to a new high.
The Marketing Association (MA), hub of the country’s marketing industry, is actively engaged with over 9,000 members of the marketing community on an annual basis and provides the largest series of marketing focused professional development through one and two day short courses, online eCourses, part-day events and a certificate series. From 2011, The University of Auckland Business School (UABS) through their Executive Development division will become the exclusive education partner to the MA to deliver their highly regarded short course portfolio. With over 14 years experience at providing learning solutions to the business community - this year reaching its 40,000th participant - the UABS is an ideal partner to take this learning opportunity to the wider business community.
Both the UABS and MA are passionately committed to providing incomparable professional development opportunities. This unique partnership is a great example of universities and professional associations working together to bring practical and highly relevant development opportunities to professionals.
The MA’s focus of “by professionals, for professionals” will remain their strength as they will continue to work with leading industry experts to develop their marketing short course portfolio and content, keeping the short courses highly relevant to today’s marketing practitioners. While the course IP will stay with the MA, the operational excellence of delivery passes into the hands of the UABS, leaders in this space. The strategic intent of this partnership is to extend the portfolio of development opportunities for New Zealand marketers.

Darren Levy, Director of Executive Development at the UABS agrees, “The UABS Short Courses’ vision is to lift the competency of the nation, therefore to partner with the leaders for developing our country’s marketers is another avenue for us in our commitment to delivering on this vision.”
Offered in three locations across the country, MA short courses will now be delivered at the UABS’s state of the art facility, The Owen G Glenn Building in Auckland and UABS’s preferred venues in Wellington and Christchurch.
The imminent introduction of professional accreditation for marketing in New Zealand – proposed to happen in early 2011 – sees this as a timely partnership and one which will strengthen New Zealand’s marketing industry to develop ongoing thought leaders in this space.

Short Courses are available in Accounting and Finance, Communication, Management, Leadership, Sales and Marketing and Operations and Project Management - providing fundamental knowledge and skills to be a well-rounded and successful marketer.
