"Top Chopper Tolley" severs requirement for child-carers to be vetted in limited attendance centres.

Following the second reading of Education Amendment Bill 2, Anne Tolley, Minister for Education, responds to the accusation that the Bill is irresponsible and will compromise children's safety.

All opposition parties have been critical of the Government's stance on these centres, and Trevor Mallard, Shadow Education Secretary, called the Bill a "sex abuser's charter" as it removes the obligation for staff working in these casual child-care centres to undergo police checking.

Education Amendment Bill 2 also re-enshrines the almost total lack of regulation for 33,000 children's welfare in private schools as well as introducing controversial nepotistic mechanisms to favour children of Board members and others for places in zoned public schools.

The Bill has had it's second reading and is likely to be Law by Christmas.
