Community support for UCOL students
Twenty six Whanganui UCOL students will receive extra support for their study, at an annual scholarship presentation ceremony this week.
The scholarships have been donated by businesses, organisations, individuals and trusts in the region. They include Energy Direct New Zealand, Philp-Wright Fabrics, H and A Design and Print, Wanganui Education Trust, Arthur Wheeler Leedstown Trust, Bryan Smith Memorial Trust, Maxi Lab Film and Digital and the Underground Youth Fashion Trust. Six of the scholarships are awarded by the UCOL/School Partnership.
Whanganui UCOL Deputy Principal Andrea Bullock says UCOL and the students receiving scholarship are very grateful for this community support. “Most of the scholarships are awarded for achievement and to those with particular needs or who make a special contribution. IN every case, this financial support can make a very real difference to the students’ ability to complete their course successfully and move into the workforce to make a contribution in our region,” she says.
The 2010 Scholarship Presentation Ceremony will be held in the Atrium at the Matapihi ki te Ao campus on Thursday 27 May at 4.30 pm.
The scholarships will go to students across a range of Whanganui UCOL programmes, including Nursing, Culinary Art, Fashion, Fine Arts, Computer Graphic Design, Advanced Computer Users, Hairdressing, Business and Art and Design.
