Government Education Proposals A Real Lemon
Government Education Proposals A Real Lemon
The new Student Executive of Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology met this weekend to discuss their role and goals for guiding the Student Association into the future.
“Students are concerned that many policies coming out of Government look like real lemons”, said Student President Rachel Boyack.
The students, based on Nelson, Marlborough, Woodbourne and Aviation campuses, ranked the policies according to their citrus value, and ability to corrode the quality of tertiary education in New Zealand.
The sourest “lemon” of the bunch would be the removal of the Fee and Course Cost Maxima policy, which ensures student fees don’t increase at exponential rates, like they did in the 90’s.
“This possible change in policy is a real lemon because it will make tertiary education out of reach for ordinary New Zealanders”, said Viticulture student Dominic Ison.
