NorthTec ACE cheesemaking courses a real hit
Home cheesemaking is making a real comeback at the moment with people everywhere wanting to learn how to make more of the food they eat.
NorthTec’s ACE cheesemaking courses, tutored by Liz Akehurst, are proving popular and provide a great way for people in the community to get together and learn a new skill.
“I learnt more about cheese and food in one day than I have in the last five years,” said course participant Ceres Andrews. “Liz’s style of tutoring is fantastic, I can’t wait for the next one!”
“It demystifies the whole process. Liz has a fantastic teaching style and makes learning really fun!!” said Craig Douglas.
“It’s great fun and a wonderful way to learn to use the methods of cheesemaking with the least amount of fuss and equipment,” said ACE Coordinator and course participant Jane Scripps.
Students learn to make feta, haloumi and ricotta during the day-long course.
Tutor Liz Akehurst will be running two NorthTec ACE cheesemaking courses in the Whangarei district:
15 May at Pataua North Road, Pataua North
28 May at NorthTec’s Kamo Road Campus, 291 Kamo Road
Both courses run from 9am to 3pm.
