3D Animation - Lifeway College’s Biggest Intake Ever
Lifeway College, located along the beautiful shores of Snells Beach New Zealand, has received an unprecedented intake of students for their highly acclaimed Diploma in 3D Animation. A staggering total of 60 students have packed out the animation labs to receive two years of the most advanced training available in the country and a chance to unleash their creativity in ways they have only dreamed about!
Lifeway College’s 3D animation course stands out as not only having the highest level of qualification available in New Zealand (an intense level 7 Diploma in 3D animation) but it also has involvement and support from top level industry professionals who work for Disney, DreamWorks, Weta Digital, Flux Animation and Huhu Studios.
High-Tech Creativity
This year marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the course, with custom-built hardware to serve every aspect of this exciting 3D animation program.
“Every student gets a full-spec computer… and these aren’t just any computers. Every computer is a Quad core and has a 64 bit OS. These machines are purpose-built for what animators need; the goal is to make every detail of our wildest dreams a visual reality” says Matt Guinibert, animation tutor.
World-Class Render Farm
This new hardware will also be supported by the use of the cutting-edge Smedge Render Farm. This unique system uses the computers that have been left idle in the labs. Smedge evenly distributes the rendering tasks to each of the unused machines.
This system delivers rendering on an intense scale and enables the students to achieve the pinnacle of their creative visions, unhindered by a lack of processing power.
3D with Nuke at Lifeway College
Also new to the course is the inclusion of Nuke software. Students are taught how to utilize this powerful software, creating stereoscopic imagery, as seen in the number one blockbuster of all time… James Cameron’s Avatar.
With the success of Avatar acting as a catalyst for the 3D industry to produce future animated films in stereoscopic 3D, Lifeway College intends to position its graduates at the forefront of this dynamic new medium.
With unprecedented student numbers, technology enabling those students to reach the industry’s highest standards, fast employment for graduates and tutoring from top industry professionals… 2010 is shaping up to be a bumper-year for Lifeway College’s 3D animation qualifications. “We are excited to have double the graduate employment rate for our sector in New Zealand”- Craig Hansen, Lifeway College Principal.
