NorthTec’s Social Services programme area acknowledged National Social Workers Day on 23 September by hosting a breakfast for an invited group of social services sector representatives at NorthTec’s Whangarei campus.
More than 20 people attended the breakfast at NorthTec’s Interactive Learning Centre.
Guest speaker Terry Dobbs shared some of the results of her research about children and young people’s experience of family discipline.
Dobbs’ master’s thesis “Insights – Children and Young People Speak Out About Family Discipline” involved interviewing children about how they felt about parental discipline. Her thesis was subsequently published by Save The Children.
