Whanganui UCOL opens its doors
Whanganui UCOL will throw open its doors to aspiring fine artists, fashionistas, hair stylists, mechanics, chefs and nurses as it holds its annual Open Day on Wednesday.
UCOL’s Marketing and Events
Coordinator Nicola Grant says: “The Open Day is the
perfect opportunity to have a look around the facilities,
meet the lecturers and experience the buzz of Whanganui
UCOL’s vibrant learning environment.”
Nicola says
Whanganui UCOL staff and student helpers have gone the extra
mile this year to create a carnival atmosphere with plenty
of interactive displays and demonstrations to represent the
variety of programmes available at Matapihi ki te Ao
campus.
Among the attractions, the creative talents of Fine Arts, Glass and Computer Graphic Design students will be on display at the Open Day.
Fashion students will invite visitors to try the art of moulage, the technique of draping fabric used in fashion design, and sports science students will demonstrate their skills in sports strapping.
Regular tours of the campus will be conducted during the day and will include visits to Whanganui UCOL’s specialised facilities, workshops, studios and study areas.
Visitors can indulge in free food samples and refreshments and enjoy the live entertainment in the Atrium or take part in the free fun Open Day activities including Sumo Wrestling and Velcro Wall Bar Fly.
The Whanganui UCOL Open Day runs between 10am and 1.30pm on the Matapihi ki te Ao campus at 16 Rutland Street, on Wednesday 9 September.
