International Flavour at Design Graduation
Six countries will be represented at Whanganui UCOL’s Computer Graphic Design Graduation ceremony to be held at the Concert Chamber at the War Memorial Hall on Friday 3 July.
A total of 23 students from Thailand, Malaysia, India, China, Indonesia and New Zealand will celebrate their success at the 10.30am ceremony.
Twelve students will receive their Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design and three students will also receive their degrees with Honours.
The Postgraduate Diploma of Computer Graphic Design will be awarded to seven graduands. Bruce Lester will receive a Masters in Computer Graphic Design.
The degrees are jointly conferred by the Whanganui School of Design and the University of Waikato.
Graduates will be addressed by Wallis Barnicoat, the new Director at the Whanganui Regional Museum in Wanganui. Wallis has more than twenty years experience working in the arts and culture sector in New Zealand and overseas. Most recently she was Manager Museum Development at Te Papa in Wellington.
The Wanganui community will have the opportunity to view works by the graduands at an exhibition titled Deconvolution. The exhibition will be open daily (except Mondays) from Wednesday 17 June – 2 July between 10 am and 2 pm at the Federal Gallery.
Students will be in attendance to host visitors to the exhibition. They will also take part in an Industry Day in Wanganui on Friday 19 June where they can meet and network with those involved in the industry.
