Considering A New Career?

The Otago Polytechnic, as part of the Otago Careers Festival, is holding several events to help people find the right career or training option for them. If you have ever thought about studying at the Polytechnic, now is the time to explore what they have to offer.

Behind the Doors! is a guided tour of the Polytechnic being held on Monday 11 May and Thursday 14 May, 10.30am , 12.15pm , 2.30pm or 4pm at Otago Polytechnic. Meet at the Learning Centre on Forth Street . Come along to find out more about what courses and qualifications are offered at the Polytechnic.

Explore your Career Potential is a chance to drop into our Learning Centres and talk to Jane Field, the Polytechnic’s professional Career Consultant for free guidance with respect to your career development, career decision making, job search and help with life choices. Whether planning to work or study, come and talk about what you want to do. There are a number of times and locations so find one that suits you:

• Tuesday 12 May and Wednesday 20 May, between 10.00am and 3.00pm at the Mosgiel Learning Centre, 116 Gordon Road , Mosgiel.

• Wednesday 13 May and Thursday 21 May, between 10.00am and 3.00pm at the Princes Street Learning Centre, Cnr Princes Street and Moray Place, Dunedin .

• Friday 22 May, between 10.00am and 3.00pm at the South Dunedin Learning Centre, Cnr King Edward Street and Hillside Road , Dunedin .

Careers Decisions for Uncertain Times! is a Career guidance workshop with Dr Heather Carpenter.

The Polytechnic is delighted to present Dr Heather Carpenter, one of New Zealand’s leading Career Practitioners and author of the book 'The Career Maze: Guiding your children towards a successful future.' Dr Carpenter is a tertiary lecturer in Career Management to business students, and provides career development programs for schools and the community. She is visiting Otago for Careers Month and will be available to give useful career guidance and advice.

• Tuesday 19 May , between 10am and 12pm , Mosgiel Learning Centre, 116 Gordon Road , Mosgiel.
• Thursday 21 May , b etween 10am and 12pm at the Union Street Learning Centre, Union Street East .
