Whitireia student gains top marks in New Zealand
Helen Hibbert, a Legal Executives Certificate student at Whitireia Community Polytechnic, achieved the top national score in the Business and Law Practice Exam. She received the prize from the Law Society in January this year.
Hibbert, who lives in Broadmeadows, admits she struggled with the course to begin with, as she had no knowledge of the legal profession at all. “Coming from a science background, the course was very different from anything I had studied before, says Hibbert. Many of the other students already worked in law offices and had some legal knowledge, but I was starting from scratch.”
“I was very pleased with my results and delighted to hear I had gained the top mark in New Zealand for the Business Law and Practice paper”
“She can be very proud of her achievements and I warmly congratulate her on behalf of all of the teaching team on the Legal Executive Course at Whitireia,” says Gordon Churchill, programme manager of the Legal Executive Certificate.
“Whitireia is a great place to study the Legal Executive course. I benefited from listening to other students questions and comments and wish to thank all the tutors for helping me achieve such great results,” says Hibbert.
The Legal Executive Certificate is a one year certificate that has been offered at Whitireia since 2006. The certificate teaches fundamental legal principles to prepare graduates for executive roles in law offices.
