New Programme Leader For NMIT Business
Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology’s new Programme Leader for Business has a wealth of international business experience from rugby to economic development in rural areas.
Dr Louw Bezuidenhout, who is originally from South Africa, holds a Masters of Commerce in Management Accounting, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a PhD in Business Management. Louw also brings a wealth of business experience to NMIT and its business students.
“I enjoy all aspects of business, but my specialities have been with small to medium sized companies focusing on areas like Financial Management, Business Restructuring, Business coaching, Strategic Planning and Business Development.”
With a history of management roles such as Logistics Manager for New Holland South Africa and Senior Advisor for PriceWaterhouse Coopers, Louw has had a varied and diverse career.
“I have had many highlights so far, from being the Director of a number of companies which focused on economic development in rural areas of South Africa, the President of the Southern African Institute of Business Accountants, a member of the Certification Board for Technikon Education’s Business Qualifications Evaluation committee, and a Project Manager for the restructuring of a Rugby Union in South Africa, and now my teaching at NMIT.”
Dr Bezuidenhout first began working for NMIT in 2005, as a Senior Lecturer in Finance and continued the relationship by teaching Business Finance and International Business at two Universities in China that NMIT has agreements with.
“Even though my new role is to oversee the commerce courses at NMIT, I still enjoy assisting in the management of the business courses in China. My overall focus is to maintain liaison with the industry and therefore to be able to provide excellent commerce education.”
“As a father of 5 girls, NZ is a great place for my family to live and NMIT is an ideal working environment for me as the commerce courses here are of excellent standard and delivered by a team of highly qualified and experienced tutors.
“We focus our teaching on practical applications in the small to medium-sized business environment and our graduates are being snapped up by employers.”
Dr Bezuidenhout says the NMIT Accounting degree is accredited with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants which places us among the best in New Zealand.
