CEPNZ Fills Gaps on Bullying Resources for Schools

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE USE 17/03/09

CEPNZ Fills the Gaps on Bullying Resources for Schools.

The CEPNZ released a bullying prevention resource called the "ZT Bully Pack" (ZT for Zero Tolerance) for schools in 2006. This resource is proving very popular with schools and due to the recent publicity on this issue, schools are once again coming to us for this resource. To date over 700 schools have purchased this from their own operations grants.

As with our successful truancy resources, the Labour-lead government did not want to look at our anti-bullying resource either and left it up to schools to source from the CEPNZ as the Ministry of Education of the day could not supply them with anything adequate to help them.

However, the Canadian Ministry of Education did look at our ZT Bully Pack and have reviewed it and found it met all their requirements to prevent, deal with and eliminate bullying and they now promote it to all their schools. It is a shame that the NZ government can not do the same as the Ministry of Education is unable to meet our school's needs and that they have to out-source and use their own tight budgets for what the ministry is unable to supply or at least endorse or promote resources such as ours that work.

Once again, the CEPNZ has written to the Minister and has offered to work with the ministry to give the schools and our community what they need.

Bullying is not to be tolerated! Let's end bullying in all forms and make our schools a safe place for our children to learn and grow.

Details of our ZT Bully Pack and the review by the Canadian Ministry can be found at: http://www.cepnz.co.nz/bully.html
