Take2 - PPTA supports new discipline initiative
PPTA president Robin Duff is backing a new initiative by Timaru secondary schools to deal with disciplinary issues.
The Take2 Timaru Student Support Network is a new way of working with students who would traditionally face suspension or expulsion. It will offer a “time out” educational programme as a form of behavioral management, with the name Take2 meaning students can take from two days to two weeks.
Mr Duff sees the programme as a “practical local attempt to deal with a difficult problem” and would like to see increased government support and for such initiatives to be encouraged in other parts of New Zealand
