Waikato Tertiary Scholarships To Be Announced
The David Johnstone Charitable Trust Waikato tertiary scholarships are to be awarded on Wednesday November 7 in Hamilton
Students will receive $5000 towards their study. The scholarships are to be awarded to twenty-three students. These scholarships have been awarded each year from 1996.
Seven students undertaking first year study at Waikato University (Science)
Ten students undertaking first year studies at Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology)
Six students undertaking first year study at Waikato University (Bachelor of Teaching) .
Applications are received from schools from Taumarunui in the South, Raglan in the West, Te Kauwhata to the North and Te Aroha, Matamata, Putaruru in the East. Each school is able to nominate one student in each category.
The Trust was established by the late David Johnstone who wanted to help young people who had the ability to achieve but, for financial or personal reasons, had not considered a tertiary education and who while not necessarily being a top academic achiever, clearly had the ability to achieve given the opportunity.
The scholarships will be presented at Waikato Stadium, Genesis Lounge, Seddon Road Hamilton at 5:00p.m. next week.
