Event aims to inspire a new breed

Star Trek Enterprise’s visual effects producer Dan Curry will be amongst the global luminaries inspiring students at a one-off Wellington event next month.

The Media Design School-sponsored AnimfxNZ Student Master Class Day will be an excellent opportunity for tertiary students with a strong interest in animation, visual effects and gaming to hear and speak with a high calibre collection of global achievers including Dreamworks Animation’s Tim Johnson, director of Over the Hedge and Antz, Warren Franklin, the CEO of Rainmaker, Canada’s largest animation and VFX Studios), Rita Street, the managing director of Radar Cartoons and Matt Aitken (VFX Supervisor for WETA Digital.

The day’s programme will also include a question and answer panel to discuss careers and opportunities in the gaming industry. Panelists will include successful Kiwi gaming entrepreneurs Mario Wynands from Sidhe Interactive and Metia Interactive’s Maru Nihoniho .
The event is designed to impart valuable advice and inspirational stories to students interested in making their mark in this most dynamic of industries.

Located in downtown Auckland, Media Design School is a private tertiary institute specialising in high-end undergraduate and graduate qualifications in 3D animation, 3D visualisation, visual effects, game art, game programming, graphic design, digital media, creative advertising and creative technologies.
