New appointments in educational leadership
2 October 2007
Auckland, New Zealand
Two new appointments in educational leadership at The University of Auckland will drive continued growth for projects in New Zealand and overseas, Dr Peter Lee, Auckland UniServices Limited CEO, said today.
David Eddy takes up a new role as Executive Director of Educational Leadership at the University in the Faculty of Education.
The inaugural Director of the national First-time Principals Programme (FTPP) delivered by the University since 2002, David will continue to develop opportunities for University research and capability in New Zealand and overseas, especially in the Asia Pacific region. He is currently in discussion with international companies on jointly delivering select educational leadership programmes.
John Locke has been appointed as the new FTPP Director.
John brings extensive experience in educational leadership and development through his years as principal at Okaihau College, Kaitaia College and Alfriston College, where he was the founding principal of one of the first new state secondary schools to be built in the last 25 years.
Over recent years UniServices, which is the University’s research and technology company, has successfully supported a growing range of new educational resources for New Zealand classrooms and overseas markets, as well as specialised courses for students coming to the University from overseas, Dr Lee said.
“The quality of the University’s resources and output in education are widely recognised and form an important part of the range of services that UniServices offers. With these two new appointments we are very pleased to support further growth in an area where, with projects established in several countries, we are already seen as leaders,” Dr Lee said.
