Open Polytechnic celebrates graduation
The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, the nation’s specialist provider of distance learning, is celebrating graduation this month with ceremonies held around the country.
Around 330 graduates will attend ceremonies in Auckland, Wellington, Lower Hutt, and Christchurch this month. Including those graduating in absentia, over 760 diploma and degree qualifications will be conferred this graduating year.
Nationally, graduates will travel from as far as Kaitaia in the north and Invercargill in the south to attend the ceremonies. Internationally, graduates from London, Thailand and Australia are also expected to return home to attend graduation.
This year students will graduate with a range of vocationally orientated degrees and diplomas, including Bachelors in Applied Science, Business, Engineering Technology, and the Arts. The Polytechnic will also have its first graduate majoring in Social Sciences in the Bachelor of Arts degree, which also offers majors in the Humanities, Communications, and Information and Library Studies.
Graduates will also receive diplomas ranging from business and small business to early childhood education, real estate, information and library studies, psychology and Maōri Art and Design, as well as many other industry related qualifications.
