Purity at the heart of ‘Purely Girls’ Success
The Purely Girls camp which was held at El Rancho in Waikanae this past week has been an incredible success, according
to event organisers.
Over 70 girls attended the all-girls event, which was the brain-child of Wellington Doctor, Ate Moala, and is understood
to be the first of its kind in New Zealand.
Dr Moala spent most of the camp reminding the girls its okay to “have fun, eats lots of chocolate and scream!”
But the camp had a serious side too – the message of purity, and its many different facets, was at the heart of all the
sessions. With the girls encouraged to discuss openly with their peers, their struggles and hurts, in a safe and caring
environment.
“While the intrigue of most media in this was on the abstinence aspect of purity, these girls go home with so much more
than that,” says Ms Moala. “They go home knowing that its okay to dare to be pure, and now have a much better
understanding of what purity really is and how to win in living it out.”
The camp covered a diverse range of issues from self-image to sex to relationships - relationships with their parents,
with boys and with God.
Focus on the Family’s Chief Executive, Tim Sisarich said that, “Focus on the Family feels incredibly privileged to be
associated with an event that has made such positive impact of so many young lives.”
Organisation is now underway for next year, with the concept of adding a Father-Daughter Ball to the final evening of
the event.
