Wintec’s Radio Programme a Hit
Wintec’s new Radio Broadcasting programme has proved to be a big hit with students keen to become Hamilton’s next generation of radio professionals.
The NZQA approved programme was launched this week with its capacity of 21 students and a waiting list of those keen to enrol.
Wintec Radio Programme Manager Max Christoffersen said he was overwhelmed by the response.
“We were confident of a successful start to the programme, but the phone hasn’t stopped ringing and our radio studio is full, so we literally can’t squeeze another student in.”
The Certificate in Radio Broadcasting programme is being taught at Wintec’s city campus radio station studios, Max-FM-107.1. Along with School of Communications tutors, students will be taught by local radio personalities during the seventeen week course.
Mr. Christoffersen said the second semester enrolments had already started, with prospective students determined not to miss out on the students seeking placements early when the Certificate in Radio Broadcasting programme starts again in July.
