Wintec Students Leave For UK On Prestigious Scholarships
After leaving Wintec ( then Waikato Polytechnic) Chris Couborough gained a wealth of experience in both cuisine and hotel management. Now chef patron of world class Crown Hotel and vice-chair of The Master Chefs of Great Britain, he was instrumental in setting up the highly successful Adnams scholarships for young chefs from New Zealand to continue their development and training in the United Kingdom.
This year’s Adnams scholarship winners, Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology) graduates from the Certificate in Professional Cookery, Te Aue Tahi, Laura Bowmer and Kimberley Snowden are preparing to take up their twelve month scholarships in April.
The scholarship includes return airfares, accommodation, and salary of approx $36,000.00 including visits to various associated sectors of the industry.
