MIT’s academic year kicks off with a Mighty Day Out

A new and exciting free event will give prospective students one last chance to enrol at Manukau Institute of Technology before the academic year kicks off.

MIT’s first-ever Mighty Day Out on Saturday, 17 February is an opportunity for future students and their families to explore all the study options it has to offer, while enjoying great entertainment, food and fun activities.

Free career advice will be offered at a Careers Expo on the day and visitors can find out all they need to know about MIT’s more than 100 formal degree, diploma and certificate programmes. Information will also be provided on student loans and allowances available from StudyLink.

Topping the day’s entertainment will be live performances by a showcase of Dawn Raid Entertainment hit-artists – Aaradhna, Ill Semantics and Deceptikonz, supported by emerging local band 3 Houses Down.

Other entertainment will include cultural and hip hop dance performances.

Younger family members will enjoy face painting, rides, a bouncy castle and basketball games, while everyone will be in to win giveaways and spot prizes.

Mighty Day Out runs from 10.30am to 2pm at the B Block quad on MIT’s South Campus on Newbury Street, Otara.

The day is also the culmination of Go Week, MIT’s student orientation week, which starts on Monday, 12 February.

Filled with fun activities, Go Week is a great way for students kick off their academic careers at MIT.

For more information on Go Week or Mighty Day Out call 0800 62 62 52, or visit www.manukau.ac.nz/goweek.
