Collaboration Gives Boost To Regional Training In The Agriculture Sector
Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) and Telford Rural Polytechnic have joined forces to ensure agriculture training in the Waikato is as good as it gets.
Wintec CEO, Mark Flowers, said the agreement was one of the first in the sector seeking to work within the new tertiary education framework which focuses on collaboration designed to benefit regional and industry sectors. He said the strength of the agreement was that both organsiations appreciated each other’s strengths and as a result presented opportunities for both to move forward with the sector in a way which neither could achieve alone.
Under the agreement Telford will deliver short courses in agriculture, and fire and rescue while Wintec will deliver core subjects such as business, computing and communications subjects to the farming community and full-time agriculture courses at its Avalon Campus .
Mark Flowers and Telford CEO, Jonathan Walmisley, said both organisations were commited to the successful delivery of essential training to the region and looked forward to a closer working relationship in the future.
