Employers - Have Your Say!
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority wants more feedback from employers and industry groups about proposed changes
to the Record of Learning.
The Record of Learning lists the educational achievements of individual students and is being re-designed in response to
feedback from learners and employers.
Consultation on possible changes to the RoL and the annual National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Results Notice is
taking place the current and proposed RoLs can be seen on the NZQA website at: www.nzqa.govt.nz/framework/rol/
The page has already been viewed more than 4000 times in the past month and more than 100 submissions on both documents
have been received. However, Qualifications Authority Chief Executive Karen Poutasi says more input from employers and
industry groups would be welcome.
"Apart from students having a view, for some time we've been concerned that we aren't meeting the needs of employers who
find our current Record of Learning confusing," Dr Poutasi said.
"Around 10 per cent of the feedback we've had so far has been from the employer and business sector, and the responses
have generally been positive. But the more input we get, the better we can tailor the RoL to users' needs."
Possible changes to the RoL include summarising the learner's qualifications at the top of the document and grouping
standards into subjects and levels.
"The old Record of Learning bunched standards according to other classifications that were not easy for most people to
understand. We want a reader to be able to quickly see the subjects the learner is strong in."
The consultation period will run for another month.
