Annual management scholarship open to applicants
Applications for an annual management training scholarship, established last year in memory of the seven Crop & Food Research staff killed in an air accident in June 2003, are now being sought. The scholarship allows the successful
applicant to attend the NZIM course, ESCO – The Discovery.
Crop & Food Research general manager, human resources, Leeanne Carson and Reg Garters, CEO of NZIM (Canterbury), said the
scholarship is aimed at career development for upper level managers and scientists.
“New Zealand science needs excellent staff who can merge science and business to help create value for this country. The
seven staff who died in the air accident were focused on that. This scholarship aims to encourage others to do
likewise.”
ESCO – The Discovery is a one week management development residential course. It covers management principles and their
application and the scholarship is to be offered for the NZIM ESCO course in 2006.
Applications for the scholarship are now being sought and close on 31 August 2006. The scholarship is open to staff of
Crown Research Institutes, universities or private research companies in Canterbury.
Accommodation for the successful applicant is being provided free of charge by the Copthorne Hotel Commodore
