New Zealand Schools’ Tour Gets An A+
The Boost Mobile New Zealand Schools’ Tour is celebrating as two alumni bands hit the top ten in the New Zealand charts.
My Life Story’s “Fairytale Life” debuted at number 6 on the New Zealand singles chart and Goodnight Nurse’s album Always
and Never is at number 7 on the New Zealand album chart.
Independent artist, My Life Story have a series of successes behind them. Their debut single “Falling Out” was voted
number 15 in C4’s top 100 videos of 2005, after reaching number one on C4’s select and was in the Top 20 on The Edge
radio station. Topping off the huge success of this single, My Life Story went on to win the ‘Breakthrough Artist’
category at the Juice TV music video awards. Now being in the top ten with “Fairytale Life”, lead vocalist Phil Toomer
says, "After working hard on the schools’ tour last year it has been awesome to finally get a song out there that people
can get their hands on, and it’s even better that it made it into the top 10! We're stoked!"
Because their fans can’t get enough of My Life Story they have just released their first live DVD including footage from
their recent nationwide tour and a one night only concert in Auckland which featured appearances from
Steriogram, Goodnight Nurse, WASH and Streetwise Scarlet.
The Boost Mobile New Zealand Schools’ Tour is an initiative to encourage musicianship in schools. It kicked off in 2002
with Steriogram and now one band is selected every year to travel for five months from Kaitaia to Invercargill playing
and giving workshops to schools in almost every town of Aotearoa, reaching over 40,000 school students.
