ISNZ Welcome 2005 Examination Dates

24 November 2004

Independent Schools of New Zealand welcome 2005 Examination dates

The later start to the examination period for 2005 has been welcomed by the Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ).

Executive Director Joy Quigley said “that many principals of independent secondary schools have been increasingly concerned that the proposed later start to the school year, coupled with increasingly earlier start dates for examinations, has been having a negative impact on the available time for effective teaching and learning”.

“The 15 November start date in 2005 is a positive step in the right direction”, said Ms Quigley. “It is also very positive that the examination timetable for 2005 is going to be known prior to students making subject choices. This will prevent a reoccurrence of the unfortunate situation faced by too many students this year where they were forced to make late decisions about subjects, or alternative arrangements for sitting conflicting examinations”.
