Flavour added to International Students Forum 2004. (ISF 2004)
International student forum 2004 is nearly here with people coming from all over Aotearoa/New Zealand to discuss the
International Tertiary education sector in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The forum will cover social, academic and economic
aspects of international education.
Not just a talk fest, the International Students Forum 2004, will also incorporate attendees having the opportunity to
enjoy a hangi and some great local music.
The Aotearoa Tertiary Students Association (ATSA) in conjunction with Massey Wellington Students Association (M@WSA) and
the M@WSA Roopu Te Atawhai is delighted to introduce a stellar line up of local indigenous talent.
Singer songwriter Myra Mc Kay, live band Nga Tuahine, hip hop from Creek Clan, acoustic roots outfit Brannigan Kaa and
DJ Shaun will all be taking the stage at the Massey Wellington bar, Massey University Wellington, on the 30 July 2004,
starting at 8pm.
The event, which celebrates the end of Te Reo/Maori Language week, will also be celebrating the diversity of New Zealand
culture by bringing those involved with the international students forum into contact with a line up of live, 100%
Màori, local talent.
"What better way to show our legendary hospitality and creativity than by introducing our international brothers and
sisters to some of Te Whanganui a Tara, outstanding local puoro," said Te Rangiuaia Te Ua Houkamau of Te Atawhai.
The ISF 2004 is an ATSA initiative co-hosted with M@WSA that will run over two days, 30-31 July, starting with a Powhiri
at 10am on Friday 30 July. Directed by selected workshop topics, the forum will attempt to draw out the reasons why one
of New Zealand's largest export revenue earners is also one of the most misunderstood and volatile.
