The 2004 Excellence in Educational Journalism Award
An award will be made for excellence in educational journalism, with a prize of $2,000 together with a certificate. The
presentation will be made to the winner at the Teacher Education Forum of Aotearoa Conference in Auckland on 5 July
2004.
Entries will be judged according to their contribution to community understanding of issues in education (in any sector
– schools, early childhood, tertiary, community), and their journalistic excellence. This award emphasises in-depth
investigation and reporting that uses sound educational research.
The panel of judges represents the New Zealand Council for Educational Research, the Teacher Education Forum of Aotearoa
New Zealand, the teaching profession, and journalism. The judges have the right not to make an award, and their decision
is final.
The award is open to all journalists in the print and electronic media. Entries must have been first published or
broadcast between 1 August 2003 and 31 May 2004. All submitted material must be original. Early entry is appreciated.
Each entrant should make no more than two entries in any category.
