School System Gets Blast In New Book

Press Release

School System Gets Blast

“A school education can be more of a hindrance than a help” So says Paddy Sweeney in his new book “Stuff You Will Never Learn At School”

Sweeney left school at thirteen and says it has never been more of an asset than a hindrance. “I knew I was dumb and built on that accordingly to become street smart and succeed in business and in life. The so called smart people are easy to leave behind when it comes to getting somewhere in life” He said.

“They have to contend with sets of belief from an education system that doesn’t even spend one percent of its time on how to become financially independent or get along with difficult people.”

He has written a book, which centres on his early life and how he educated himself to cope with and take advantage of what he claims abound.

“This isn’t about bagging teachers” said Sweeney “its about looking fairly and squarely at the curriculum’s and what sort of results they are producing. Unemployment is a continuing problem and recidivism and crime continue to soar.

The school system tends to support the idea that the future should be pursued via a profession or a career with the Government. Both these are parasites to the enterprise system where the economy is propelled from.

Sweeney suggests that the whole of society would benefit if more of our youth were pointed in the direction of entrepreneurism and the critical role it has played and continues to play in the real world.

Sweeney uses his own story and packs it full of tips and ideas on how to get ahead and negotiate life in worthwhile fashion.

It is primarily set on The West Coast where limited opportunities are balanced with the larrikin spirit and a relaxed lifestyle.

“It is a combination of a humorous story of a young bloke and his wife having a go and a self improvement book with grass roots ideas.”

When asked if he thought it would change the world? “Probably not, but if it can help the reader move on a few steps in a more positive fashion than they have been it will have achieved its purpose.” He said today from his home on the Gold Coast.

The book is part of the Good Bastards Series.

Good Bastards is a group of larrikins that has emerged from the West Coast of the South Island and has as its slogan “Keeping the larrikin spirit alive”

This is the fourth book in its series and the group also has its own Rugby Club, four wheel Bike Club. Web site, beer and plans for a chain of its own pubs.

It has gained national recognition through one of its members owning a tank, which has been driven through houses, over cars and even had a crack at becoming airborne in a world record attempt jumping over ten cars.
