Creative Flair Could Win Children Trip To America's Cup!
Primary and intermediate school children around the country are putting crayons to canvas, paint to paper and glue to
papier mâché with full artistic licence to show why "Being At The America's Cup is Everything".
And being at the America's Cup is the prize for the lucky winner and his or her family in the Air New Zealand America's
Cup Art Competition launched this week.
Air New Zealand sponsorship manager Denise Ward says the Air New Zealand America's Cup Art Competition is a good way for
all New Zealand children to get involved in America's Cup action and learn about this great sporting event.
"The aim for the art competition is to give children and schools from every region around the country the chance to
enjoy the America's Cup either by producing artwork or through the prizes on offer. We hope all schools and parents get
in behind this great opportunity and wish children who enter the very best of luck," she says.
The once in a lifetime prize from Air New Zealand, one of the major sponsors of America's Cup 2003, consists of return
flights to Auckland for up to two children and two adults and a day on the water inclusive of hospitality experiencing
America's Cup racing and supporting Team New Zealand.
Air New Zealand will also award the winning student's school with two return Pacific Class airfares to Australia
(Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) to do with as they wish.
There is no limit to the form of art children use for their entry and it can be as big or as small as they like.
Entries must be received by 5pm, Friday November 22 and the main prize is to be redeemed during America's Cup racing (15
February to 1 March, 2003).
