ACTivists Attend Far Left Meetings

Published: Wed 24 Apr 2002 07:11 PM
Young ACT supporters will attend every meeting of the far-left Victoria University Education Action Group (EAG), says Wellington ACTivist President, Lucas Nagorcka.
"The students association which funds the EAG uses compulsory student union membership to make students of all political stripes pay for their extreme views" Mr Nagorcka said.
"Since ACTivist members make compulsory donations to EAG protests through their students association fee, we plan to be well represented at their meetings."
"We’ll propose protest action that we think the EAG should be undertaking, such as campaigning to lower taxes so that students can afford to pay off their student loans faster."
ACTivists will also continue a long-running campaign for voluntary student association membership, to restore the freedom of association for students who don’t want to join a student union.
